Amel M. Suchy, 93, of Belle Vernon, PA, went home to be with His Lord on Monday, June 12, 2017, in Monongahela Valley Hospital.
He was born on November 5, 1923 in Parnassus, PA, but lived most of his life in Elizabeth Township, PA. He was the son of Michael and Mary Suchy, and was married to Nancy McClinton Suchy.
Amel served in the United States Army, and was a World War II Veteran. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend; and he was a member of Flatwoods Baptist Church, Vanderbilt, PA. Amel was an avid gardener, and loved to share his yearly harvest with others. He was a faithful prayer warrior and soul-winner, telling everyone he could about Jesus.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Thomas Callaghan; Granddaughter and husband, Erin and Timothy Showalter; Grandson and wife, Nathan and Belinda Callaghan; Great-grandchildren, Ryan Showalter, Ethan Callaghan, Emma Showalter, and Spencer Callaghan; and Sister-in-Law, Leona Suchy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Suchy; sister, Sophie Suchy Petro; and brothers, Russell Suchy, Michael Suchy and Peter Suchy.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, June 15, from 6 to 8 pm in the Eley-McCrory funeral Home, Inc., 334 Main Street, FAyette City, PA. (724)326-5621, www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com.
Funeral service will be held Friday at11:30 am in the funeral home with Pastor Daryl Evans officiating. Internment will take place in the Flatwoods Cemetery in Vanderbilt, PA.
