William E Strickler, Jr

William E. Strickler, Jr.,  93 of Arnold City, Belle Vernon, Pa., passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 13, 2018 in Mon Valley Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born August 30, 1924 in Dunbar, PA, son of William Strickler Sr. and Clara Thompson Strickler.  

He was a member of  Rehoboth Presbyterian Church where he served as a church Deacon and  on the property committee; he also volunteered for Meal's on Wheels and at the Washington Twp Food Bank.
He was a veteran of the US Army and was retired from the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Monessen plant with 44 years of service.  He was an avid woodworker, gardener and enjoyed playing the guitar.

He is survived by his daughter, Debra Russo of Arnold City; three  sisters, Betty Lerch of Vanderbilt, Anna Lee Fike of Painsville, OH and Darlene Diethorn of Charleroi; one brother James Strickler of Vanderbilt; five grandchildren, Carmel Catura and husband Sam, Daniel Geary, Michelle Hinerman, David Geary and Joseph Russo and Lindsay; 10 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Margaret Strickler on Feb. 20, 1986; daughter, Linda Sickles; brother, Maurice Strickler and sister, Shirley Crouch.

Friends will be received Friday, June 15, 2018, 2 to 8 pm in the Eley-McCrory Funeral Home,Inc., 334 Main St., Fayette City, PA. 724-326-5621,www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 10:00 am in the funeral home with  Pastor Alan Olson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Rehoboth Cemetery, Rostraver Twp, PA .
