Anna May (Grapes) Hamer

Anna May (Grapes) Hamer, 83, of Fayette City., went to be with the Lord  2017  in Mon Valley Hospital. The daughter of the late Thomas and Vera Grapes, she was born in Cumberland, Md. October 11, 1933. Anna was a member of many clubs in the area and ran the Ladies Auxiliary at the Charleroi Belgium Club for years She was a member of the Russian Club of Pricedale, Gillespie Slovak Club, the Fayette City American Legion, Belle Vernon, American Legion, Namoi Club and the Rod and Gun Club of Fairhope. She had resided in the Fayette City area for most of her adult life with her late husband, Ken Hamer of 55 years until his passing in 2010 . Survivors include 2 sons, David Hamer and wife Marie Hamer of Smock, Kenneth Hamer of Fayette City, a daughter , Denise Hamer and husband Chuck Lloyd of Gillespie, which Anna stayed with for the past 2 years.  2 bothers Charles Grapes and wife Trudy of Ohio and Robert Grapes and Wife Suzann, of Wisconsin.  Grandchildren, Marie DeHaas and husband Brian of Mt. Lebanon, Emily Giordano, and husband Philip, of Collensburg, Renee Hamer of Fayette City, Nicholas and wife Kristin Mamula of McMurry, and Ashley Dalrymple and husband Steven of Fayette City, and 7 great-grandchildren, Alexis Ribstein, Alexie Dalrymple, Conner Ribstein, Parker Mamula, Aiden and Eli Giordano, and Adriana Fidanzato.

She was preceded in death by a brother, James Grapes of Uniontown. A daughter in law, Nancy, and 2 grandsons. 

The Hamer family would like to send special thanks to some special friends who helped care for Anna.  Jo Ann Marinos, Tom Strickler, Jeanne Hill, Adrian Hernandez, and Celeste Lloyd.

Friends will be received Friday, February 3, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in the Eley/McCrory Funeral Home, Inc., 334 Main St., Fayette City, Pa. 724-326-5621, www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com.  Funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:00 am in the funeral home with Rev. Wayne Boring officiating.
