Barbara L (Vavreck) Sedlak

Barbara L. Sedlak, formerly of Gillespie, Fayette City, Pa., died on March 6 at 95 years of age at St. Anne Home in Greensburg, Pa. She was a devoted homemaker and a faithful Catholic.

One of twelve children of Andrew and Barbara Vavreck from Hawk Run (Clearfield Co.) PA, she was preceded in death by Albert M. Sedlak, her husband of 56 years, and by five siblings: Anna (who died in infancy), Betty Kushner, Josephine Vavreck: Joseph Vavreck, and Agnes Kolosky. She is survived by two sons, Michael (and Ellen) Sedlak of Orlando, FL, and (Rev.) John Sedlak of United, PA, by siblings Andrew (Alta Monte Springs, FL), Martin (Westerville, OH), Marie Tarbay (Phillipsburg, PA), Bernadette Johnson (Houtzdale, PA), Benedict (Hawk Run, PA), Sister Barbara Ann, SSJ (Erie, PA), by three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Family and Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in the Eley/McCrory Funeral Home, Inc., 334 Main St., Fayette City, Pa. 724-326-5621, www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com. Prayers for the transfer of the body will be at 10 am on Wednesday, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Belle Vernon. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela, Pa. The Rosary will be prayed Tuesday at 3 pm and Vigil Prayers will be offered at 7:45 pm.In lieu of flowers, donations to EWTN, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, or St. Anne Home are suggested.
