Bruce J Theakston, 69 of Uniontown, Pa, formerly of Fayette City, passed away peacefully on Friday February 20, 2026 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born November 18, 1956 in Charleroi, Pa, son of Harry Theakston and Constance Miller Theakston.
Bruce graduated from BelleVernon area high school in 1974. Shortly after graduation he joined the United States Air Force. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Ministry Leadership with concentration in Pastoral and Youth Ministries and Outdoor Leadership from Toccoa Falls Christian College in Ga. He continued on to earn a Master’s degree in Theology from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Bruce was an avid guitar player who loved playing music and performing. He never went too far without his guitar in hand.
He was a member and interim Pastor of Glad Tidings Assembly of God church in McClellandtown, Pa.
He is survived by his long term partner Deborah Martin Sylvester, daughter Rebekah Callihan, son Bruce Theakston Jr, stepdaughter Christina Crouch, step sons Ralph Crouch and wife Shelby and Michael Crouch and wife Kristi. His sisters Vicki Rygiel, Stacy Morris and husband Dave and his brother Scott L Theakston and wife Kasi, Grand children Keslynn Bradburn, Carole, Cameryn, Nick, Ashley and Hannah. And great grad children Luna and Maverick. And nieces and nephew.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Harry Theakston.
Family and friends will be received at Eley Mccrory Funeral Home in Fayette City, Pa on March 4, 2026 from 2-7 with a memorial service to start at 7pm.
