Charles R Eland, 89 of Fayette City, PA, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born August 27, 1923 in Washington Twp., Fayette Co.,Pa., son of the late Robert Eland and Ruth Miller Eland. He was a US Navy veteran of WW II and Life member of Charleroi VFW Post # 167. Charles was a 50 years member of the following, Tri-County Lodge F & AM # 252, Donora, Pa, Uniontown Lodge of Perfection and Charleroi Elks Lodge # 494. He was also a member of the First Christian Church of Fayette City. He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport Plant with 42 years of service as the machine shop foreman. Charles was a member of the Elk's men's golf league and Rotolo's bowling league.
He is survived by four children, son, Robert Eland 7 wife Mary Jo of Severn,Md.,, daughter, Charla Peters & husband Joe of Belle Vernon, son, Gordon Eland of Bentleyville and daughter, Joann Nelson of Fayette City; sister Donna Trew of Donora; 11 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great Grandchildren and a dear special friend Friede Coulter.
He was preceded in death by his wife Helen G. Eland on July 29, 2010.
Friends will be received Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 10am - 11 am in the First Christian Church, Second Street, Fayette City, Pa. A Memorial service will follow at 11:00 am in the Church with Rev. Wayne Boring officiating. Inurnment will be private for the family in the Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Fayette City, Pa. Military rites will be accorded by Hopwood Amvets Post # 103.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions maybe made to the First Christian Church, Second Street, Fayette City, Pa. 15438 of Amedisys Hospice of Pa., 100 Stoops Dr., Suite 300, Monongahela, Pa. 15063.
