Emma Florence (Getchell) McGowan

Emma Florence Getchell McGowan, 96 of Fairhope, Belle Vernon PA, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the home of her daughter Kathy with her loving family at her side.

She was born July 29, 1917 in Fayette City, PA, daughter of the late Richard Getchell and the late Jennie Perry Getchell . She was a member of the Fayette City First Christian Church. Emma was a homemaker and stay at home mom who loved watching her grandchildren, crocheting, reading books and quilting. She would also run errands for her shut-in neighbors.

She is survived by five daughters, Jennie Roberts of Belle Vernon,Pa., Izetta Lee DiCenzo of Houston, TX, Kathryn Angelo of Monessen,Pa., Darlene Angelo & husband Richard of Perryopolis,Pa.and Emma Jean McGowan of Florida; one son, William Robert McGowan & wife Carol of Lansing,MI; daughter-in-law Betty Jo McGowan of Belle Vernon,Pa.; 20 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James McGowan on 6/30/1976, son, James R McGowan on 12/3/2009; brother, John D Getchell; two sisters, Isabelle Schaming, and Cecelia Mae Zdilla; two son-in-law's Douglas Roberts and Ronald DiCenzo.

Friends will be received Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 pm in the Eley-McCrory Funeral Home,Inc., 334 Main St., Fayette City, PA. 724-326-5621,www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com. Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 20, 2013 at 1:00 pm in the funeral home with Rev. Wayne Boring officiating. Interment will follow in the Rehoboth Cemetery, Rostraver Twp.,Pa.
