Ethel Mae Maxen, 100 beloved wife and mother, cherished friend and caring compassionate Christian example, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at home.
She was born May 12, 1924, the daughter of John and Edna Butler Rhodes.
Ethel Mae was known for her kind compassionate spirit. She was the Jr. church leader at the Fayette City Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and was involved in the children's ministry for many years, a position she loved and was devoted to. The children were drawn to her warm and loving manner. A devoted born again Christian, she lived her faith and was always willing to help in any capacity. She loved the Lord with all her heart and always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone.
She was a member of the Fayette City Christian and Missionary Alliance Church for many years and most recently attended Grace Baptist Church in Grindstone. She was a prayer warrior and was an example of a dedicated Christian women. Ethel Mae loved to spend time with family and friends and her church family was especially dear to her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren, daughter Mary Sue England and husband David, sister and brother in law, Betty Jane and Bryl Maxson, nephew James "Crow" Maxson and niece Linda Jack
She is survived by nephew Bryl "Sonny" Maxson and wife Edna Mae of Fayette City, Jill Maxson of Elizabeth Township and a host of nieces and nephews. Also left to cherish her memory are friends who were like family to her; Jean Livingstone, Ed and Marianne Lorinchak, Tim and Daphne Livingstone, Timbo and Kerry Livingstone, Andy Booth and Doug and Jan Booth with whom she made her home.
Friends will be received on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 11 am to 1 pm in the Eley/McCrory Funeral Home, Inc., Fayette City, Pa.
Funeral service will be held at 1 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Mitch Wall officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
