George Truskey, 88, died peacefully with family at his side on March 19, 2015, at the VA Medical Center, Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Formerly from Newell, he lived the past nine years in Middletown, Pennsylvania. George was, above all else, a loving family man and devoted his life to their welfare. He enjoyed a long retirement after having worked for over 35 years as a steelworker. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II. George followed Pittsburgh sports’ teams but he was most enthusiastic about the Steelers.
He was married for 57 years to Ediena Truskey, who died in 2007. George’s remaining family members are daughter, Georgina Hamer, and her husband, Bruce, of Middletown, son, John Truskey, and his wife, Cheri, of Uniontown, granddaughter, Jennifer (Truskey) Humbert, and her husband, David, of Metairie, Louisiana, grandson, John Daniel Truskey, and his fiancée, Kelly Stofan, of Uniontown, grandson Ryan Hamer, and his fiancée, Jessica Stauffer, of Middletown, and grandson, Jeffrey Truskey, of Uniontown. He also has one remaining brother, Elmer Truskey, and his wife, Patricia, of Coal Center, and two sisters, Yolanda Jarouse, of Perryopolis, and Elizabeth Phrogner, of California, as well as brother and sister-in-law, John and Irene Snyder, of Newell.
Family and Friends will be received in the Eley/McCrory Funeral Home, Inc., 334 Main St., Fayette City, Pa. on Monday, March 23, 2015, from 5 PM to 9 PM as well as a viewing on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, from 9 AM to 10 AM, which shall be followed by a celebration of George’s life beginning at 10 AM. Burial will be at Lafayette Memorial Park in Brier Hill.
