James Levy Obituary

JAMES C. LEVY, 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.  Born in Charleroi on January 21, 1932, he was the son of the late Helen (Flenniken) and James Levy.  Jim served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War and was very proud to be a Marine. Over the years he was involved in veterans’ organizations such as the Mon Valley Leathernecks and the Marine Corp League.

Jim retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel where he was employed as a machinist. After his retirement he took pleasure in meeting friends for coffee or lunch at various places. Jim was an avid hunter and took many trips out west and to British Columbia to hunt. He was also an ardent competitive shooter; he competed in NRA high-power and long-range rifle matches both at the local level as well as at the national level at Camp Perry in Port Clinton Ohio. While competing he would shoot distances of 200, 300 and 600 yards and as far as 1,000 yards for the long-range matches.  As much as Jim loved to shoot, he loved to socialize even more with the many friends he had made at the various ranges.  Many people have competed at these ranges over the years, but few have made as much of an impact on others as Jim did.

Jim was predeceased by his wife, Frances Mascara Levy, to whom he was married for 43 years, stepson, Frank E. Mascara, and his two sisters, Mary (Frank) Dombrowski and Sarah (Jack) Hamer. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Karen Talbert and her children, Justin (Nikki) Talbert, Adam (Taylor) Talbert and their daughter Tessa, the children of his stepson, Maria (Joseph) Rodriguez, Frank T. Mascara and Marcy (Alex) Parr, his two nieces, Elaine (Brian) Barkby and Linda (Ralph) Buffa and many good friends who generously helped him in the last few years of his life. A private funeral will be held at the Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
