Margaret M. (Novotne) Summers, 95 of Washington Twp., Belle Vernon, PA, passed away and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 28, 2015.
She was born December 24, 1919 in California, PA, daughter of the late Stephen Novotne and the late Margaret Lutter Novotne.
Margaret was a life long member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon. Margaret worked as a welder during WW II in the shipyards at Neville Island, and also at Curtis Wright, Beaver, where she welded airplane propellers. She was an avid bowler for 42 years, loved to play cards, enjoyed going to the casinos and was a Steelers and Penguins fan.
Margaret loved life, and was a woman of strong faith, humility, generosity, and forgiveness. Her family and friends called her Honey or Margie. An amazing woman, loved by all, Margaret fought hard to maintain her independence. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Margaret will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Marc and Darlene Summers Covol, with whom she made her residence in Belle Vernon; two sons and daughter-in-laws, Steven and Diane Summers of Tasmania, Australia, and David and Lien Summers of Las Vegas, NV; eight grandchildren, Justin Dera and wife Kristin, Haley Covol, Sarah Covol, Christina Cowley and husband Jeff, Michael Summers, Autumn Summers, Honni Moy Cox and Daniel Cox and wife Jess; five great-grandchildren, Tori and Jacob Dera, Shane Cowley, Thomas Hoban and Jasper Cox. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a new born son in 1947, loving and devoted husband of 53 years, David Summers, Jr. in 1999, one sister Irene Sokol and two brothers Joseph and Steve Novotne.
Family and Friends will be received Sunday, May 3, 2015,from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in the Eley-McCrory Funeral Home,Inc., 334 Main St., Fayette City, PA. 724-326-5621,www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com. Prayers of Transfer will take place on Monday, May 4, 2015 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in the St. Sebastian Church with Msgr. Roger A Statnick as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery, Belle Vernon, PA. Members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the Rosary Sunday at 3:30 pm in the funeral home.
