Rachel G. (Astle) Curcio, of Belle Vernon, PA, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on October 30, 2024 at the age of 73, at the Paramount Care Center, after a lengthy illness..
She was born May 22, 1951 in Monongahela, PA, daughter of Edward Astle and Rachel M Anthony Astle .
Rachel Attended Frazier High School and graduated in 1969. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years, until she decided to continue her education in Nursing. She received her nursing degree in 1981 from Fayette County Vo-Tech. She worked as a nurse at Monongahela Valley Hospital(now known as Penn Highlands Hospital) and private duty nursing for 25 years retiring, a job she truly loved.
Rachel had a passion for learning new things. While she was a stay-at-home, she followed her passion for baking and took classes for cake decorating, which she practiced for her children and family's birthday cakes, before exploring the skill of making wedding cakes, which everyone raved about. She received her certification in Massage Therapy, the Equine Therapy. She learned the skill of candle making exquisite designs. She was an amazing cook, and avid baker, and she had an amazing skill at gardening, she could make any plant thrive.
Rachel was a loving mother, an Amazing Mamaw, a wonderful sister and aunt, and a loyal friend, she will be sadly missed by all that knew her.
Surviving, is her daughter, Leslie R. Hoskin and husband Bill, grandchildren Jordan (Tara), David (Erin), Rachel Lynn, Kessler and Jonathan, her only great grandson, Nolan James, her sisters Edna (Rance) and Sara, her niece Tammy and great niece Allison, great nephews Jason and David, her nephew, John, her bonus children, Elizabeth, William and David and all her extended family and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband William Randall (Randy) Cucio, her son Richard Lynn Chalfant and her beloved pets, Sassy, Duchess and Petey.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Eley/McCrory Funeral Home, Inc., Fayette City, Pa.
