Russell Clifford Carlson, 56, of Fayette City, passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, January 10, 2015. Devoted son of Mary Ann Puskas Carlson and the late Clifford “Chippy” Carlson, he was born on April 12, 1958. A 1976 graduate of Belle Vernon Area High School, Russ was an avid artist who enjoyed drawing, painting, working in stained glass and interior design. He also enjoyed cooking for family, friends and church functions. Russ retired from J. C. Penney and was a member and past elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Fayette City. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his Uncle Bill and Aunt Judy Carlson Package of Fayette City, Great Aunt Dorothy Puskas of Arkansas, cousins Darryl and Denise Portman and family of Fayette City, Chuck and Helene Keznor and family of Lancaster, PA, John and Lynn Baron and family of Belle Vernon and Frank and Joyce Stanish of Belle Vernon. He was preceded in death by his father and loving grandparents, John and Anna Yakim Puskas and Clifford and Martha Hall Carlson, Uncle Bob and Aunt Yvonne Carlson Premoshis, cousin David Richard Portman and numerous great aunts and great uncles. A private family prayer service with the Rev. Michael Shepard will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the ELEY McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main St., Fayette City, PA, 724-326-5621, www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Second & Union St., Fayette City, PA 15438.
