Samuel P Russell, 93 of Fayette City, PA, passed away, Thursday February 6, 2014 in Country Care Manor.
He was born June 29, 1920 in Gillespie, , PA, son of the late William L Russell and the late Jessie Smith Russell. Sam was a US Army veteran of WW II having served in the China/Burma/India Theater. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church, Fayette City and retired from Fox Grocery Company.
He is survived one daughter, Cynthia Russell-Marshall and husband David of New Philadelphia,OH, son, Samuel Russell and wife Nancy of Perryopolis; granddaughter, Gina Russell of Perryopolis, brother, Ross Russell and wife Lola of Fayette City. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Hough Russell in 1990; nine brothers Alfred,Carl,Howard,Elmer,Herbert,Ernest,Lewis,Park and Richard Russell; two sisters Grace Todd and Sara Yakim.
Friends will be received Sunday, February 09, 2014 from 1 to 5 pm in the Eley-McCrory Funeral Home,Inc., 334 Main St., Fayette City, PA.724-326-5621,www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 5:00 pm with Elder William Mines and Elder Thomas Hamer co-officiating.
Interment will take place in the Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora, PA.
