Virginia A Cassin

Virginia A Cassin, 89 years old of Newell, PA, entered into her eternal rest on Saturday, September 27, 2014.

She was born Monday, October 6, 1924 at Centerville, PA, the daughter of Robert E. Brashear Sr. and Della Irene (Jordan) Brashear. Virginia Was Catholic by Faith.

She graduated from Brownsville High School. She had worked for Goodyear Aircraft, P. & L.E. Railroad Newell Allied Chemical. She was an amazing and strong woman, a very loving and caring Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. She loved bowling, gardening/flowers/yellow roses, rainbows, and red birds. She enjoyed playing games with her family, including Scrabble and a card came called "Idiots". She enjoyed the last years of her life with her iPad playing games, jigsaw puzzles and , of course, Facebook.

Virginia was preceded in death by her first husband John A. Katalinas; her second husband, Frank A CassinSr.; her parents; six sisters, Betty Stecher, Frances Devine, Margaret Guiser, Lorena Breckenridge, Alice Kaiser, and Doris Foster; one brother, Robert Brashear; and two sons, John A. Katalinas Jr., and Sp/4 Frank A Cassin Jr. (killed in action in Vietnam in 1970). Virginia was very proud to wear her Gold Star Mother Pin.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Livingstone and husband James of Newell,Pa; son, Arthur Cassin and Linda of Gillespie, Pa. , grandcchildren: Pete Kovalsky, Alexis Livingstone, Michael Cassin, Christina Cassin, Artilee Cassin, Brandon Rands, Tracie Masteller, Stephanie Katalinas; great-grandchildren: Michael Cassin, Jr., Frank Cassin, Maya Katalinas; daughter-in-law, Terri Cassin and fiance La Fedutes; sisters-in-law Frances Todaro and Beverly Brashear; special nephew and special nieces John and Rosalind Sopko, Sam Todaro, Mim Murman; dear friends; Scott and Maryellen Brundege and family, and Colleen fabriziani; amd many loving nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to list but not forgotten.

Friends will be received Monday, September 29, 2014 from 7 to 9 pm, Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 pm in the Eley-McCrory Funeral Home,Inc., 334 Main St., Fayette City, PA.

Interment will follow in the LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, PA. Dinner will follow at the Santa Barbara Club, 415 Sixth St., Newell, Pa. The family thanks everyone at Amedisys Hospice and at Thorpe's Personal Care Home for their compassionate caregiving.
