Helen Bennett Obituary

Helen Marie (Sebetich) Bennett, 93, of Fairhope passed away peacefully at home on Monday,February 11, 2019 with her loving family by her side.

  She was born in Fayette City on August 17, 1925, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Yonash) Sebetich.

 Helen worked as a clerk at the former G. C. Murphy's in Charleroi and as a waitress for the former J. I. B. Restaurant also in Charleroi. She graduated from Marion High School with the class of 1944.

   She was predeceased by her husband, Michael J. Bennett, Sr. on September 28, 2003 with whom she celebrated 55 years of marriage on June 26, 2003.  She was also predeceased by a son, Michael J. Bennett, Jr.. on April 2, 2002.  Left to survive her memory are two children:  Daughter, Barbara Kutska and husband, Michael (Macky) and son, Frank Bennett; five grandchildren: Scott Bennett; Shawn Bennett and wife, Corry; Alyssa Auther and husband, Ronald; Mackenzie Bennett and her boyfriend, Matt; and Jesse Bennett and his fiancee, Carley Emerick; and five great-grandchildren:  Brianna Bennett, Brittany Bennett, Keaton Bennett, Ty Bennett, and her little angel, Emberlee Grace Bennett.  She is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Bilski and a brother, Theodore (Ted) Sebetich and his wife, Margaret (Peg). Helen had numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many special friends.

            Helen was Roman Catholic by faith; she was a member of the Church of St. John the Baptist in Perryopolis, and a member of the former Holy Spirit Church in Fayette City and its predecessor, St. Edward Church.  She was a prayer warrior having been known to recite the rosary four to five times daily.

            Helen loved to crochet.  She made many afghans, scarves, placemats, and other items for her many relatives and friends.  She also had a passion for cooking and baking; she baked for many people and for weddings; she was known for her lady locks.  And Helen was known for her weekly beauty shop appointments; she had her hair professionally done weekly for over 50 years until her final few years.  Also, she loved flowers of all kinds and butterflies as was evident in her home decorations.

            The family would like to especially thank her two aides, Paula and Marsha, who gave her loving and compassionate care for the last two years and her two newest aides, Cheryl, a special family friend, and Kathy who were with Helen the last month.  The family also extends a warm thank you to her OSPTA Hospice Team who also gave her outstanding compassionate care her final days:  Chaplain Donna; nurses Cindy, Ashley, Matt, Amanda, and John; and other staff members: Rachel, Amy, Ashley and Heidi.

Family and Friends will be received Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 2 to 6 pm, Friday, February 15, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in the Eley/McCrory Funeral Home, Inc., 334 Main Sr., Fayette City, Pa. www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com

Prayers of Transfer will take place Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 9:45 am in the funeral home followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 am in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Perryopolis, Pa. with Rev. Fr. Alvin Carbungcal and Rev Fr Robert T Lubic as co-celebrants.

Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery, Belle Vernon, Pa.

Parish Rosary services will be held Friday at 3:00 pm in the funeral home.
